About Me

Hello Everyone!

My name is Anthony Avila. I'm from Torrance California, and I now reside in Corvallis Oregon. I moved to Corvallis, September of 2022 with my partner who is a reporter at the local newspaper. 

I'm currently pursuing a history degree so that I can teach history in either a middle or high school setting. Maybe one day get my Masters in Special Education. I'm currently an educational assistant at the local middle school here in Corvallis, as well as a full time student.

One of my largest passions is martial arts. Before moving to Corvallis. I was a Sensei at Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy. My passion for it leads to me visiting Torrance as often as I can to help with testing and to train. I practice on my own time for typically an hour or two.

Other hobbies of mine include gardening which is a newer hobby, ttrpgs, and mechanical engineering. Gardening is a more newer hobby of mine, and I'm very happy with my parking lot garden that I'm slowly building. I enjoy playing many form of table top role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Paladins, Pathfinder, and many others. As for Mechanical Engineering, I know it may seem strange to be marked as a hobby, but I whenever my father needs help with his work he'll send me a project to help him work on. Which I enjoy greatly.

In terms of regarding the online communication class. I look forward to learning more etiquette in the full spectrum of communication. Like social media, work place, and/or various other platforms used for societal forms of communication.

I use a variety of different kinds of media such as Pinterest, Instagram, and Discord mainly. Smaller forms of media I use would be my email, LinkedIn, and Facebook. I'm almost never on LinkedIn and Facebook.

My goal for this summer term, is to be a better writer in terms of online communication.
